We had a great turnout last night at Olympia for our third YA² meeting. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to the discussion of Croak. It’s great to hear so many people enjoyed this fun and creepy book and that you’re interested in pursuing the rest of the trilogy (Scorch and Rogue). Here are some other books and movies mentioned during the discussion:
- The Imperial Radch series by Ann Leckie
- Uganda Be Kidding Me by Chelsea Handler
- The Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo
- Mary Coin by Marisa Silver
- Mongrels by Stephen Graham Jones
- The Raven Boys Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater
- The Lorien Legacies series by Pittacus Lore
- Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch
- Colonia
- Giant Days by John Allison
We had a request to read historical fiction for the January book club, and Under a Painted Sky by Stacey Lee won by a landslide! We’ll be meeting at Houlihan’s (Brentwood) on January 23rd, 7 p.m. Please register in advance so I know how many seats to reserve.
It was also requested last night that I post the nominees for each voting round for those who are interested in reading the other choices, so here are the nominees we had for the past three book clubs (I’ve asterisked the winners):

- *Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith
- Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
- Ashfall by Mike Mullin

- The Madman’s Daughter by Megan Shepherd
